SPF Lookup

An SPF lookup retrieves and evaluates a domain's SPF TXT record against a sending IP—returning pass, fail, softfail, neutral, none, or error conditions such as PermError.

How receivers evaluate SPF

The receiver extracts the envelope domain, fetches TXT, expands includes/redirects (counting DNS lookups), and matches the connecting IP.

What you should check manually

Record presence, single TXT policy, include chain depth, and effective lookup count.
